Cahir Farmers Market is a very busy local market trading every Saturday morning from 9am to 1pm, in the Craft Granary car park in Church Street ( near the Post Office ) It is now operating six years, since September 2003. Currently with twelve permanent stallholders.
The 'Market' is good fun for stallholders and for shoppers, with good banter always present, which brigtens up even a bad wearther day. It has become a regular meeting place for town and country folk. The Market operates in the style of a mini co-operative, organised and run by the stallholders. It is one of six Farmers Markets trading weekly in County Tipperary
O'Briens Farm Shop - 052 - 7462282 / 086-6482088 On entering the market you will find the O'Briens Farm Shop stall run by Pat and family. They sell potatoes, apple juice, Williams' world prize honey, a range of local kithcen made jams, Jim Hickey's mushrooms from Outrath, and vegetables from John Harnett near Horse & Jockey. The O'Briens have operated a Farm Shop at Outrath, near New Inn, since 1990, which customers come and ring the shop bell for service. The Farm Shop opens every day. Recently they produced Free Range Pigmeat, which is sold in the shop.
Keith Wilson’s and Jim Trehy's organic vegetable stall - 052 - 6133745 Next is Keith Wilson’s and Jim Trehy's organic vegetable stall. Their produce changes with the season and currently they have cooking and eating apples, garlic, courgettes, peppers, aubergines, onions, and flower bulbs as well as tomatoes and potatoes.
Knockara Gourmét Paté - 062 - 57339 Maria Mulcahy from Knockara, Emly, sells Knockara Gourmét Paté. She has in her range, Gourmet Duck Liver Pate with fresh herbs and brandy, Chicken Liver Pate with fresh herbs and brandy, Pate de Porc, and Smoked Salmon Pate. Maria is delighted with her custom every week and the responce and support the public have offered. Maria also sells to restaurants, hotels and speciality delicatesans.
David O'Donnell - 052 - 6128049 David O'Donnell from Coman near Fethard is an egg producer, and also brings a constant supply of potting plants for the garden. At present he also has filled flower pots, which are very popular at this time of year, for placing on the family grave.
Catherine and Michael English - Dairy farmers - 052-7441582 Catherine and Michael English are dairy farmers from Cahir. Michael grows Potatatoes which he sells at the Market and also sells at his farm in Garryclogher. Catherine sells a range of Irish cheeses which are very popular with customers.
The Apple Farm - View More The Apple Farm owned by Con Traas, have the next stall. Avril is on hand here every week to supply you with award winning cooking and eating apples, delicious apples juice, jams, jellies and apple tarts. They also have cider and cider vinegar.
Pat Hartley - Fish Supplier - 087 - 296 3633 Pat Hartley from Annestown, Co.Waterford is the fish supplier. He is a Bridgestone award winning chef, for his fish pies and he sells up to 30 different species of fish every week. Pat always has a recipe on hand to help you get the most from your purchase.
Stella Kenna Cakes - 052-7438032 Stella Kenna from Grange produces a range of delicious cakes, including pavlovas, carrot cake and a very popular chocolate biscuit cake. Stella is joint PRO for Cahir Farmers Market, along with Catherine
LOVE 2 EAT Pastries - 085-8255501 Emma Ryan joined the Market recently with her 'LOVE 2 EAT' range of savoury pastries and ready to eat meals. All the stallholders have given her a big welcome to the Market. Emma comes from Clonmel.
Leo Martin Meats - 062-54029 Leo Martin joined the Market last year, selling Organic chicken and lamb from his refrigerated stall. He offers excellent meat at excellent value. Leo farms in Ballydavid in the Glen of Aherlow.
Ann O'Connell and Mary Davis Home Baking - 086 - 853 0578 Ann O'Connell and Mary Davis are two home baking ladies. Early risers, Ann and Mary make fresh brown and white soda bread - and scones on market morning. They also sell buns, plain and iced, jam and apple. tarts, madeira, soda, chocolate and coffee cakes. Coconut, almond, and caramel slices there are lots to tempt you at this stall.
